If you want to increase sales and save money, you should choose responsive WordPress theme design for your website and blog, and we’ll give you 5 reasons why. Responsive Design is the future of web design as we know it. Mobile is growing. Soon there will be no real distinction between mobile and desktop. All will be integrated into our lives.

As smartphone and tablet adoption rapidly increases, so does the importance of mobile-friendly websites. And because SEO should be a core component of your digital marketing strategy, having a mobile–friendly website should be just as important.

Mobile Sales Are Higher Than Desktop Sales

Mobile sales have already overtaken desktop sales, and mobile Internet usage is predicted to overtake desktop internet usage by 2014. It is only logical that mobile search will overtake desktop search at some point in the near future as well. And since 67 percent of users claim they are more likely to purchase from a mobile-friendly website, companies that rely on SEO are wise to begin making the transition to mobile-friendly websites, and responsive web design specifically.

Google Recommends Responsive Web Design

Holding 67 percent of search market share, Google recommends responsive design. Google states that responsive web design is its recommended mobile configuration, and has even gone so far as to refer to responsive web design as “the industry best practice”. Unless you are paying extra for content writers to create separate mobile and desktop content, using a mobile and a desktop version of the same site means duplicate content. Responsive Web Design prevents the Duplicate Content Penalty, which results in reduced search engine ranking on Google.

Responsive Design = One Website Optimized for All Devices and Browser Sizes

With responsive design, there is no longer the need to maintain two versions of your website. Instead, with one responsive design, your website will automatically be optimized for all browsers. There’s no need to have a separate domain name or separate sub-domain for your mobile website. In having multiple versions of your website, you split the number of views that your website analytics show. And your website’s analytics become confusing and inconsistent. Responsive design means that you’ll have one website optimized for all devices and browser sizes. Analyzing your website sites campaigns and goals becomes easier, instantly.

WordPress Responsive Theme Design is Simply Easier

With WordPress, responsive design is easier to Maintain. Many WordPress users use plugins with additional mobile themes to run a mobile version of their WordPress website. With responsive WordPress theme design using WordPress mobile plugins become pointless (read: null and void). With responsive design, you do not have to maintain multiple versions of one page or multiple menus to ensure that mobile version of your website is clean and clear. All devices and browsers use the same pages and menus as desktop viewers. Well…unless you prefer otherwise. Yep, you now have a choice!

Responsive WordPress Theme Design Saves Money

The cost of creating and maintaining a completely separate mobile website can be daunting and exorbitant . With responsive theme design, the cost of designing your website and mobile website are clear cut and transparent. Responsive WordPress theme design costs are upfront. But building separate desktop and mobile sites designed to handle different devices will soak up much more money down the road, if you consider maintenance, labor, content editing, marketing strategies, and advertising for two websites instead of just one.

Let’s discuss the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. WordPress is currently available in two forms – WordPress.com and WordPress.org.

WordPress.com – the free service – is an Open Source software meaning it’s free for anyone to use and modify to meet their personal needs (in this case, to create blogs). Since it’s free, it does have limitations.

Alternatively, WordPress.org – the free product – provides the software to create your blog, but WordPress.org does not host your blog on the Internet for you. You will have to secure hosting to host your blog online. Using WordPress.org with a paid hosting service provides maximum flexibility and customization.

Choose Between WordPress.org and WordPress.com

Here are some things to think about: Customization: WordPress.com provides a limited amount of space and customization options. Monetization and Advertisements: WordPress.com does not allow you to include advertisements of any kind. So if you’d like to have paid ads, or use Google Adsense, you will not be able to. Knowledge: WordPress.org requires more technical knowledge than WordPress.com, but our WordPress team can help with that. Future Requirements: If your blog becomes popular, switching to WordPress.org requires moving your blog and obtaining a new domain name and URL address.

Why We Recommend WordPress.org instead of WordPress.com

Both versions of WordPress provide a simple interface to allow even the most technically-challenged people to start blogs. However, use of self-hosted WordPress.org allows you to use your own domain, and to take advantage of the following:

Custom WordPress Themes

Search Engine Optimization

Spam protection

Integration with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn

Plugins

Support

Personality Filled Business Identity Design

An up and coming cartoonist, Jacee contacted us for business identity design, and we fell in love with her flamboyant personality. Our team was excited to prepare a business identity suite for her blooming business. Jacee presented us with her own cartoons that we loved. We picked our favorite design; it was one that we felt captured her personality… perfectly.

Yes, a business identity suite should match the personality of the brand.

And Jacee is her brand.

Identity Design That Converts

An important consideration of the business card and complete identity was that it also had to work as an icon for use primarily on Jacee’s desktop, website, and social networking profiles. The world’s best brands have a complete identity that is so much more than the logo itself. And making sure that Jacee’s presence and personality is remembered as well as felt was an important part of this design.

Next up? A fully responsive WordPress design that will allow Jacee to feature her favorite works of art.
Cartoonists are awesome!

Managing Apartments & Tenants

The thought of using WordPress for Apartment Management seemed like a great idea, so when our design team was contacted by Magnus Realty Group to create a custom WordPress theme for their apartment management group, we jumped at the chance.
We were presented with a PSD design to convert to WordPress, so we had an idea of what WordPress features were necessary, and we were able to add a few features of our own. In addition to adding and managing properties, this gave us the opportunity to add a few features for tenants as well.

Custom Post Types for Apartments & Features

Managing home and apartment rentals with WordPress wouldn’t be complete without RSS Feeds and custom fields for all of the different apartment features. Once we converted the PSD to WordPress, we then began adding in Custom Post Types and Fields to assist with managing rentals in WordPress. Magnus Realty Group is now able to add the property rentals that they manage using the custom WordPress Theme. And they’re able to add unlimited rentals and features on the fly!

A few of the Property Management features we added are:

Search for Apartments by City, Number of Beds, Number of Baths, and Apartment Type

Apartment Rental Application Download

Tenant Portal & Information Page

Owner Portal & Information Page

Managing a WordPress site is easy, and it should be just as easy to manage properties and provide tenants with the important information that they need.

WordPress Design Fitness Challenge

Our website design group was asked to convert a PSD to WordPress for Ignite Fitness by CrossFit. Who would have thought? A rugged CrossFit WordPress theme?
We were more than excited to convert this PSD to WordPress design as a fitness challenge – a design fitness challenge. A test of CSS3, HTML5, and PHP, this rugged theme was built to withstand the test of WordPress design time.

PSD to WordPress Challenge

The first step was to covert the fully layered PSD file to HTML5 using CSS3. Once that was done, we converted the HTML5 to WordPress, and added a few plugins to enhance the features. Once that was done, we were home free and able to hit the finish line with excellence!

The Leap from HTML to WordPress

Having been a client of ours since 2001, Shannon Munford of Daybreak, finally decided to convert his HTML website to WordPress.

Our previous work with Shannon involved maintaining and fixing his HTML site and his WordPress blog. But it took a little time for him to realize that he could fully control his entire website, without the use of Dreamweaver, if he used WordPress as a CMS for his business site, and not simply the blog.

Course Registration Made Easy

Our design team created a custom WordPress design for Daybreak, and used the opportunity to add some much needed features to the site, including an “Ask Shannon” WordPress questionnaire option. The questionnaire allows visitors to ask questions anonymously, and for his team to answer those in their WordPress blog.

We also added an SEO Event Calendar with Google Mapping, and links to all of their anger management YouTube videos.

The next step in the project was to convert their existing client registration system to WordPress.
Now, site visitors can:

find anger management classes, and

register for anger management classes using PayPal or Credit Card for payment.

And Daybreak counselors and employees can:

add course registrations manually, and

edit and manage course registrations quickly and efficiently – completely online.

Who would have thought that all of this was possible in converting HTML to WordPress?
Well, we did, of course!

CrushLabs was approached by Kibsgaard to create a clean, modern brand identity along with a content management based website that would appeal to their core clientele of photographers, creative directors and advertising agencies.
We developed a minimal, no nonsense brand identity including a word-mark, collateral material and a mobile enhanced website that provides clients with quick access to pertinent information.

To meet the requirements of the fast paced talent casting environment, we integrated a social media news feed into the website which allows Kibsgaard to post updates and auditions via twitter on a timely basis.
The new brand identity has enhanced Kibsgaard’s reputation as a top casting agency while the website features and functionality have improved day to day efficiencies in their business operations.

One of the top questions asked of our Los Angeles WordPress Team is: “Which WordPress SEO Plugins should I use?” And since we’re asked this a lot, we thought it best to share with our friends.

Well, aren’t you lucky?

Simply posting content frequently to WordPress isn’t enough. Posting in WordPress is easy, but it requires a bit of science to:

Attract people to your WordPress site

Attract Google to your WordPress site

But we believe that your focus should be your content. And if you have great SEO plugins setup to work behind the scenes, you won’t have to put too much effort into attracting both people and Google bots.

Here are 3 Excellent WordPress SEO plugins that we recommend to help you achieve great results for your blog.

1. WordPress SEO by Yoast

WordPress SEO by Yoast is great because you can use the snippet preview to see a rendering of what your post or page will look like in the search results, whether your title is too long or too short and if your meta description makes sense in the context of a search result.

2. SEO Friendly Images

SEO Friendly Images is a WordPress SEO plugin which automatically updates all images with proper ALT and TITLE attributes for SEO purposes. If your images do not have ALT or TITLE already set, SEO Friendly Images will add them according the options you set. Additionally, this plugin makes the post W3C/xHTML valid as well.

3. Strictly Auto Tags

Strictly AutoTags is a WordPress SEO plugins that scans posts for words that could be used as tags and then orders them so that the most relevant words are added against the post. Just because a word appears in a post that is already in your list of tags does not mean that it should automatically be added against the article. Therefore the plugin orders all matching tags in descending order and picks only those that occur the most.

Get Social. Share Music.

Rumblefish, Inc contacted us with a cool idea for a Music Video WordPress theme for their new project Social Soundtrack. The goal of the project was in the name: to create a site that allows visitors to socially share soundtracks worth sharing. They had multiple authors and editors who were ready to start adding site content. They needed a clean site that was easy to update with videos from both YouTube and Vimeo, and they needed it fast.

Armed with this cool concept, a few sketches and some new WordPress features in mind, they were ready to get started.
And because we were given a little creative leeway, we had fun running with it.

Creating a Music Video WordPress Theme

Our design team was able to use a PSD file from Rumblefish to create a base for a music video WordPress theme.
Then we…

integrated our framework into the base of the music video theme,

registered a custom post type for the music video deathmatch poll / voting,

registered a custom post type for multiple “Best Of” video sliders,

integrated social sharing (of course), and

created a separate mobile music video WordPress theme for mobile site viewers.

We think it turned out pretty clean, and awesome.

Social Integration

Adding Facebook and Twitter is a must for any and all sites.

And because the main goal of Social Soundtrack is to be able to share awesome music videos, our team added automatic posting to multiple Facebook and Twitter accounts. We also integrated social sharing throughout the site, wherever possible.

Make sure you check out Social Soundtrack on Twitter and Facebook.
You should also check out FriendlyMusic and Rumblefish, Inc.

Calling All Job Seekers in Brazil

Jorge F. contacted our design team to develop a custom job listing WordPress theme for Trampos.co. He wanted a cost-effective solution to handle job posting, company profiles and job applications within a WordPress environment. The development of WordPress front-end and back-end were needed.

The project objective was to allow employers to be able to add jobs easily, and for job seekers to be able to apply just as easily. Once an employer created a company profile, they could add jobs by job type, thereby creating a job list by company, and by job type.

Trampos.co also wanted visitors to have the ability to apply for jobs, share jobs on Facebook & Twitter, and for employers to have the ability to mark positions as filled.

We knew WordPress could handle the job.

WordPress for Job Listing

This custom theme was packed with quite a few features and we were very excited to be able to take part in this project. We utilized WordPress Custom Post Types, Custom Taxonomies, and even developed a custom login and dashboard for the site. Our team setup custom user groups, and gave those user groups special permissions outside of the standard WordPress user type and permissions.

Employers

create a company profile, with logo, and contact information

create listings within a customized WordPress dashboard

add jobs / delete jobs

Visitors

view all job listings by city, and job category

apply for jobs

Job Site Administrators

approves company profile

approves jobs / deletes jobs

Completed successfully, this project allowed for easy job listing, job management, applications, and application management for Trampos.co.

It was important for Paul to be able to modify page, and post content, as well as sidebar content without having to deal with any code.

While the design itself is pretty self contained and has width restrictions, we didn’t think converting the design would be a problem.

And it wasn’t.

Dentists Love WordPress

When your WordPress dental website makes the right first impression, patients see the difference of a modern, gentle practice. Jonathan contacted our design team to create a Dentist WordPress Theme for his Midtown Dentistry Practice in Houston, Tx. Having worked with a few dentists before in setting up their websites, we were excited to have the opportunity once again. Jonathan already had a content rich HTML website, so the goal was to convert HTML to WordPress, using the current content, and maintaining the current SEO meta information he had so diligently prepared.

Content Rich & Focused

A dentist’s website should do more than look pretty; it should automatically bring in new patients. And Dr. Penchas’ website was already rich with content specific to his practice. And he knew that having a professional dental WordPress website design would set the standard for dentists, orthodontists, and oral surgeons. Maneuvering his content into WordPress was a big task, but we think we did a pretty good job.

Clients like Jonathan are helping us to become a premier provider of dental and medical websites.

Affecting Change Efficiently

The great folks over at the Public Interest Research Centre (PIRC) contacted our team for a Joomla to WordPress Conversion for their company website, PIRC.info.

While they favored their custom Joomla template over that of other WordPress themes on the market, PIRC wanted to convert to WordPress to take advantage WordPress as a Content Management System (CMS). Knowing that WordPress is much easier to update and add content to, they knew that converting their loved design to WordPress would be a hurdle.

Yep. PIRC wanted a CMS. Acronym rich, right? Ha!

To Convert Joomla to WordPress Is a Process, Indeed.

So, our design team welcomed the challenge posed of converting PIRC.info from Joomla to WordPress with open arms, and

converted the Joomla template to a WordPress theme,

by creating a custom WordPress theme, and then

migrated the existing Joomla content over to WordPress.

PIRC was able to keep their existing Joomla template, generate some Google energy with their new WordPress site, and continue to affect climate change more efficiently.

This project is a perfect example of how migrating from Joomla to WordPress can help a site, and its administrators.
Win!
